Six young soloists from The Academy performed at the Civic Reception to mark the launch of The 2014 St Mungo Festival - Glasgow City Chambers, 9th January 2014
Performing a short Programme of solo/duet pieces, including:
Laudamus Te (Vivaldi); Maria Wiegenlied (Reger); Panis Angelicus (Franck); Silent Worship (Handel); Evening Prayer (Humperdinck); Bester Jungling (Mozart); S’Altro Che Lagrime (Mozart); When a Merry Maiden Marries (Gilbert & Sullivan),
the singers - who ranged in age from 13 to 16 - were particularly well received as they performed in the magnificant acoustic setting of The Atrium.
Hosted by Council Leader, Gordon Matheson, The Civic Reception was followed by the prestigious Molindinar Lecture, delivered by Sir Harry Burns, Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, on the subject of “How society creates wellness”.
